Roast Pork Delight and Rustic Charms at The Abbeville, Clapham

Nestled in the heart of Clapham you'll find The Abbeville. While I'm not typically a roast enthusiast, my recent visit to The Abbeville left me pleasantly surprised. With the promise of an excellent roast pork belly and the allure of rustic aesthetics, my dining experience was nothing short of delightful.

My journey began with high expectations, primarily driven by the promise of their roast pork belly. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint. The pork was cooked to perfection, boasting a crispy exterior and tender, juicy meat that practically melted in my mouth. However, the only slight letdown was the lack of accompanying vegetables. A roast dinner, in my opinion, should come with an array of colourful veggies to complement the main dish. While the pork belly was stellar, I couldn't help but wish for a more diverse plate. Another point of contention was the gravy. It was a tad on the thin side, and to my surprise, it came pre-poured over the meal. Now, I don't know about you, but I enjoy the ritual of pouring my own gravy with it allowing you to control the gravy-to-food ratio to your liking.

The true charm of The Abbeville lies beyond the plate. The ambiance of this pub is something special. It effortlessly captures the essence of a countryside inn, all while being right in the heart of London. Many pubs attempt to recreate this feel, but The Abbeville absolutely nails it. From the cosy interiors to the charming outdoor seating area, it's a place where you can unwind and forget you're in the bustling city. During my visit, London was basking in warmth, but I couldn't help but think about how The Abbeville would be a perfect destination in the colder months.

Have you had the chance to experience The Abbeville in Clapham? Whether you're a roast enthusiast or someone like me who occasionally enjoys a Sunday roast, I'd love to hear your thoughts and recommendations. As for me, I'm certainly looking forward to returning to this charming London gem, perhaps when the leaves start to fall and winter beckons us back into the warm embrace of cosy pubs.
